Renowned Nigerian comedian, Julius Agwu, has candidly revealed that the breakdown of his marriage with his ex-wife, Ibiere Maclayton, was primarily due to his failure to seek divine guidance.
In an interview with Punch, the stand-up comedian opened up about the challenges that led to the collapse of his marriage and his battle with a brain tumor.

Agwu emphasized that a marriage lacking in God’s guidance is unlikely to endure, admitting that he didn’t seek God’s counsel before entering into his marriage with Ibiere.
He elaborated that his ex-wife was drawn to his financial success, but when their marriage was tested by his health issues, she chose to end the relationship.
In his words, “I firmly believe that any marriage without God’s presence is unlikely to withstand the test of time. When I married my wife, I failed to consult God.
Some of us tied the knot during prosperous times, and back then, nearly every woman desired to be with us. However, after marriage, if any complications arise, they might decide they no longer want the man. My suggestion is that people should seek God’s guidance prior to marriage.”
Regarding his journey towards recovery after the dissolution of his marriage, Julius expressed that he now finds life to be fulfilling and enjoyable.
Reflecting on his health struggles, he stated that he believes everything unfolds for a reason and hinted at the possibility of considering marriage again in the future.
He further stated, “Life is now good and gratifying. During that period (separation), I faced numerous battles, including dealing with my illness and family matters.
I’m thankful to God because I know there’s a purpose behind everything. As long as life endures, there’s hope. Although there might come a time when I contemplate marriage once more.

“The truth is, one’s health takes precedence. I’ve kept a low profile since I underwent brain tumor surgery in the United States in 2015.
I’m grateful to God for preserving my life. Many individuals who underwent such surgery didn’t make it. I believe God favors me due to my kindheartedness towards everyone.”
