Nollywood actress, Ini Edo has finally clarified that she had her daughter through surrogacy after having a number of miscarriages, though, she still believes that one day she will carry babies in her womb, God willing.
This was stated by the actress in an interview with Stella Dimoko Korkus. Meanwhile, surrogacy is a procedure in which a woman (a surrogate) carries a child for another person via artificial insemination of eggs.

Previously, the rumor of her having a child via surrogacy had gone viral on social media.
Ini Edo, who confirmed the news, stated that she took part in order to fulfill her dream of becoming a mother.
She also stated that she had intended to make it public on her daughter’s first birthday.
“Yes I do have a daughter and I had her through surrogacy. The Eggs are mine and so genetically she’s my blood. I chose this path to fulfil my dream of becoming a mother.” she confirmed.
“I still have a good number of eggs frozen in case I decide to do surrogacy again or carry my baby myself who knows.
“I was hoping to talk about her on her first birthday in a few months; but mischief makers beat me to it and spoilt the beautiful story with lies.
Commenting on rumour that she had the baby for a married man known as Kome.
She clarified “It is so sad that in Nigeria, when a ‘single’ woman is friends with a guy, it must mean to people that they are dating.
“Kome has been my friend for years and that’s what it is, period. He is a responsible family man and doesn’t deserve to be dragged into my motherhood story.”
When asked about her daughter’s father, Ini Edo said, “I opted for a donor for me and my baby’s peace of mind. Another major reason I opted for a donor is because it scares me so much when I see banter and controversies between a mother and a father over a baby in public forums or when I see the man insisting he wants his child if things don’t work out between both parties.
“For me it’s the fear of what that would mean for the child .Ideally, its marriage then children but we are not living in an ideal world.”

The actress also revealed that, despite having a string of miscarriages in the past, she still believes she will be able to have children in the future.
“I had a series of miscarriages in the past but that wasn’t my reason for going this route. I still hope to carry babies In my womb in the future, God willing,” she added.
