Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, has shed light on why he responded to his former girlfriend, Yvonne Nelson’s, allegations through a diss track.
Yvonne had claimed in her memoir, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,’ that Sarkodie impregnated her during the early stages of their careers, denied responsibility, and urged her to terminate the pregnancy.

In his controversial song, ‘Try Me,’ Sarkodie refuted Yvonne’s claims and clarified that he wasn’t prepared to be a father but encouraged her to keep the pregnancy.
Although he faced criticism for dedicating an entire track to address his ex’s allegations, Sarkodie explained the reason behind his approach during a chat with media personality, Angela Yee.
The rapper stated that he chose not to engage in a media tour to address Yvonne’s allegations because he feared he might lose his composure. Instead, he decided to express his side of the story through a song, as it allowed him to present his feelings and perspective more effectively.
Sarkodie acknowledged that people often make allegations against him in the media because they know he rarely responds to such situations.
He mentioned that he has previously addressed certain issues through songs, as it provides him with a platform to express himself without losing control of the situation.

While Sarkodie admitted that he might not be entirely proud of every aspect of the situation, he preferred to maintain a certain level of privacy and chose not to openly speak about it.
He emphasized that the matter involves two individuals, and he would be willing to discuss it if necessary but prefers not to engage in public conversations about it due to his usual reserved nature. However, he also pointed out that his silence sometimes leads people to think they can say anything about him without consequences.
