Bukayo Saka, the talented player from Arsenal and England, recently shared that he came close to representing Nigeria before choosing England, as he concludes his visit to Nigeria.

Currently spending his holidays in Lagos after the conclusion of the English season, Saka has been immersing himself in the Nigerian experience, including visiting numerous orphanages to provide support.

During a visit to one of the orphanages, a staff member asked the 21-year-old why he decided to opt for the English national team over Nigeria’s senior national team.

Saka responded, “I will tell you this. In 2019, I was very close to playing for one of Nigeria’s youth teams. It was my father’s wish. However, circumstances unfolded, and you have to live with the decisions you make. I still feel very much Nigerian, and nothing can change that,” as shared with OwnGoalNigeria.com.

Additionally, our source revealed that there is a possibility Saka will meet with the newly inaugurated Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Abuja before concluding his holiday in Nigeria.

“The visit to the president is on their agenda, but I’m unsure if it will be possible. Saka appears to be a lovely and modest young man. At the orphanage, we couldn’t believe who was standing beside us. He exudes humility and down-to-earth demeanor,” stated a staff member from the orphanage home.
