Pere Egbi, a finalist in Big Brother Naija All Stars, has opened up about why he identifies his origin as Bayelsa, his mother’s state, even though his father hails from Delta State.

He explained that his choice stems from the fact that his dad has never played a significant role in his life.

In a recent interview with media personality Hero Daniels, Pere clarified his preference, saying, “I like to say I’m from Bayelsa State because my mum is from Bayelsa. My dad, however, is from Delta State. My father has never been a part of my life at all.”

Pere shared that his father left his life when he was just four years old, with his younger sister being three at the time. His father had been living in America before Pere’s birth, and he returned to the United States after marrying Pere’s mother.

However, a series of events led to their separation. Consequently, Pere was primarily raised by his mother, who was solely responsible for their well-being.

As the first child and the only son in the family, Pere’s mother took on the responsibility of providing for them, ensuring they had shelter and access to quality education. She single-handedly covered their school fees from kindergarten through secondary school.

Later, Pere pursued a nursing degree in the United States, after initially serving in the US military for six years.
