Yoruba Nollywood stars seek financial aid for veteran actor Sule Suebebe, bedridden for two years, through their social media platforms.
A distressing video of the ailing movie star circulated online, prompting many of his colleagues to reach out for support on their Instagram pages.
One of the popular Yoruba actresses, Ariyo Oluwakemisola, who shared the video, shed light on the challenges faced by numerous Nollywood stars. She revealed that it has been six years since she last saw Sule Suebebe on a movie set.
Kemisola emphasized that acting has no retirement, and the income earned by many actors is not as lucrative as portrayed on social media. She disclosed that while some colleagues can earn 150k for a week’s work on a movie set, others may only make 30k for the same duration.
She urged people not to blame ailing Nollywood stars, as some actors/actresses use other businesses to sustain themselves. Kemisola expressed her empathy, stating that everyone is facing their own challenges, with social media often used to conceal the struggles.
