Funke Akindele, Nollywood actress and a box office sensation, indirectly criticized a fellow colleague, who many assumed to be Toyin Abraham.
According to TSZ Naija’s report, Toyin had encountered difficulties promoting her movie, “Ijakumo The Born Again Stripper,” on Netflix due to her support for BAT.
Taking to the micro-blogging platform, Funke Akindele advised her presumed colleague to refrain from coveting someone else’s possessions for nefarious purposes.
She suggested that the person should instead appreciate and pray for their own blessings to come, without harboring envy towards others.
Funke Akindele added that there is ample opportunity for everyone to succeed and achieve their goals, just like birds in the sky have plenty of space to hustle and feed themselves.
“Focus on your own accomplishments while I focus on mine. There is abundant opportunity for every determined individual to strive and achieve their own success. Avoid harboring ill intentions towards others’ possessions. You can appreciate and pray for your own blessings without feeling envious. Envying others is a waste of energy.”
TSZ Naija reported that Toyin Abraham expressed her distress regarding a plot to undermine her efforts. The mother of one, who proudly supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu, revealed that her endorsement has come at a great cost, as many are attempting to bring her down.
Toyin Abraham, who recently released her movie, “Ijakumo the Born Again Stripper,” on Netflix, disclosed the existence of multiple WhatsApp groups specifically created to defame her work. She questioned when expressing personal preferences had become a crime.
“Because of ‘Ijakumo the Born Again Stripper,’ all of you decided to create a WhatsApp group. Please feel free to continue. Today might just be the day I expose the truth. You will all have to explain why supporting my chosen candidate is considered a crime while supporting yours isn’t. Today, I will expose your hypocrisy.”
In another tweet, Toyin Abraham clarified that the WhatsApp group had been formed with the intention of disparaging her movie.
“Yes, it’s their political WhatsApp group aimed at badmouthing my work because of my choices. Today, they will realize that everyone has a dark side.”
According to a chart provided by Top Charts, it showcased the earnings of Nollywood producers over the years. The chart included renowned names such as Mo Abudu, Ayo Makun, Jade Osiberu, Funke Akindele, and Toyin Abraham, who all earned millions of naira.
In the chart, Funke Akindele earned over one billion naira (N1.33bn), while Toyin Abraham earned 564 million naira from her movies.
The considerable difference between the two actresses’ earnings was a remarkable achievement. It comes as no surprise since Funke Akindele is Nigeria’s highest-grossing Nollywood actress, with her movie “Battle on Buka Street” raking in over 640 million naira.
