Cynthia Okereke, a renowned Nollywood actress, has passed away, one year after enduring a harrowing experience in the hands of kidnappers.

The tragic news was shared by Joseph Okechukwu, a fellow entertainer in the industry.

The filmmaker expressed his sorrow, stating that he had intended to cover Cynthia Okereke’s flight expenses to America to complete a project they were working on together, but unfortunately, she passed away on Tuesday night.

“I am deeply devastated by your departure, dear friend. It pains me greatly that just last night, while I was about to arrange your flight ticket to come and finish what we had started, I received the heartbreaking news that you had left us to be with the Lord.

Coping with this shock is one of the most difficult things I’ve faced in recent times. Life is truly fleeting. In a moment, it is here, and in the next, it is gone.”

It should be noted that Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel were abducted while returning from a film shoot in Ozalla town, Enugu State, on Friday, July 29, 2022.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria’s Director of Communications, Monalisa Chinda, disclosed this distressing information. She informed the public that the actors were reported missing when their family members realized they had not returned from the set.

However, after a few days, they were eventually released by their captors.

Nollywood actors have taken their turns to mourn the late actress, who was well-known for her nurturing roles in Nigerian epic movies.
