Contrary to reports suggesting a distant relationship, she disclosed that Mohbad had provided her with a new house in Ikorodu, which he frequently visited. He had also purchased a shop for her and provided funds to acquire freezers and a generator. Additionally, he had promised to gift her N5 million before his tragic demise.
She recalled accompanying him to the police station twice to report occurrences, but that no action was taken. Mohbad had requested her to stay with him two days before his death, but she rejected because she needed to attend a religious service she had missed for two weeks.
“Mohbad’s mother:
I never tell people I’m Mohbad’s mother because he was afraid that I might be kidnapped or killed. I’ve only been living in the new house he rented for me for five months, and he visited me three times.
He relocated me from where I used to live to Ikorodu, saying he wanted to visit me from time to time.
He recently rented a large shop (three shops) for me, which I have not opened yet. He gave me money to purchase two large freezers and a big generator. On the day he passed away, he promised to send me N5 million so I could stock the shop with goods.
His wife said she would come and meet me and advised me to find someone to support me because we cannot afford to buy all the goods at once, and it would take us three days to purchase everything.
But now I’m afraid, and I can’t return to Ikorodu. I asked someone to help me rent out the shop and provide me with the money. My son did not enjoy his life; he lived in fear. He did not enjoy himself.
Whenever I visited him at his place, he would sit right there, and I would sit with him, then I would take him upstairs to sleep, but he would shake his head.
I thought all those problems and attacks had ceased, but when they beat him again recently after he released his EP, I realized these people had not left him alone. He would always go to the police station to report it, and I witnessed it twice.
I spent ten days with him, not knowing he would pass away. I left on a Saturday, and he passed away on a Monday. The reason I left on Saturday was because he had a show, and he begged me not to leave.
So I asked him if he wouldn’t allow me to go to church on Sunday since I had missed church for two weeks and needed to pray because I felt I was losing myself. It was the church service that ultimately convinced him to let me go.

He and his wife were teasing me, and I informed him that I was leaving. However, because he didn’t want me to go, he delayed giving me my monthly allowance for food because he knew that I would leave if he gave it to me. Normally, he would give me my monthly allowance for food.”
Mohbad’s mother shared these poignant insights into her son’s life and the challenges he faced before his passing.
