Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, who represents the Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency in Benue State in the Federal House of Representatives, has threatened to file a lawsuit against Big Brother Naija All Stars housemate Venita Akpofure as well as the show’s producers for allegedly defaming the Tiv Nation.

Hon. Tarkighir has expressed his intention to pursue a lawsuit amounting to N10 billion in damages.

The controversy stems from a statement made by Venita Akpofure within the BBNaija house, where she commented that “Tiv men give their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes.”

This remark ignited a significant backlash from the Tiv people in North Central Nigeria, with many demanding legal action against her.

In response, Hon. Tarkighir asserted that the actress and the organizers of the reality show should be held accountable for providing her with a platform to allegedly defame the entire Tiv ethnic group.

He made his stance clear on Facebook, stating, “#Venita Akpofure- Slam a 10BN defamation suit on her, the Big Brother brand and its promoters, they provided her with the mega platform to defame an entire ethnicity and are equally liable for not disowning her.”
