The death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, whose stage name is Mohbad has pulled many controversies surrounding his death.

His death on 12 September, 2023 brought shock to Nigerians and to the entertainment industry, with many wondering the cause of his sudden demise.

MohBad, who died at age 27 was a former signee of the Marlian records, owned by Naira Marley and has released hit songs since he rose to stardom in 2020.

He was best known for his hit songs “Ponmo,” “Peace,” “Beast and Peace,” “Feel Good,” and “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” (You Will Always Be Remembered) with Rexxie, which was nominated three times for The Headies awards 2022.

Among the numerous controversies surrounding his death, TSZ NAIJA, gathered 5 most important of them all with evidences.

  1. Died of ear infection

On the day he died, the news went viral on social media, claiming he died of ear infection. This was a rumour that lingered for some time until the hospital where he died released a statement on it.

Ironically, the hospital denied he died of ear infection. They said that he was already dead upon reaching the hospital.

  1. Not the owner of his chiLd

This is another controversy which is actually heart breaking. An allegation went viral by a blogger, VeryDark Man, alleging that the only son of the late singer may not be his child as there is a striking resemblance between the baby and Sam Larry, member of the Marlian music.

As sad and defaming this can be to the wife, she has however, accepted to take a DNA Test to prove her innocence.

  1. Buried alive:It was also alleged that the late MohBad was buried alive, a statement also initiated by Netizens. This rumour spread when the Nigerian Police came to exhume the corpse for autopsy. Eyewitnesses came online and pulled a narrative that his grave was not even smelling despite being buried for some days before exhumation.

This rumour has also been cleared by the Lagos state Police spokesman, SP Benjamin hundeyin who noted that there is no underhand surrounding his death. An autopsy has also be concluded on Mohbad’s remains.

  1. Killed by step mother

Controversies continues with another rumour that came out that he was killed by his step mother. There is no strong evidence surrounding this claim. It is also one of the sensational stories spreading on the internet.

  1. Allegations on Naira Marley and Sam Larry: This is the most serious controversy surrounding MohBad’s death. There are serious allegations on Naira Marley, owner of Marlian records and Sam Larry. This is as a result of a live video, Mohbad did last year February, while calling for help and telling his fans that if he dies, it’s Naira Marley that killed him.

Many Nigerians including celebrities like Bella Shmurda, Iyabo Ojo, and Tonto Dike have taken this serious to seek for justice for the deceased.

Many rallies and candle light sessions have been conducted for this reason.

Reacting to these, the two people involved have all spoken out, claiming they have no hand in his death.

The Nigeria Police promised to conduct serious investigation on the matter. They have already started by conducting autopsy on the body. The Lagos police spokesman has been prompt in giving updates on the issue.
